The London to Tokyo sector sits at the edge of what ultra long range aircraft are built for. From Farnborough, a Global 7500 or Gulfstream G650ER will typically file direct to Haneda at around eleven and a half to twelve hours, routing over Scandinavia, the Russian Arctic corridor where available, or the southern option through Central Asia and the Pacific rim when overflight permits dictate. Payload against range is the first real conversation. Eight passengers, moderate baggage and winter headwinds narrow the operable fleet quickly, and a tech stop at Novosibirsk, Almaty or Anchorage remains a legitimate planning outcome rather than a failure.

Haneda slots are the second constraint, and the one clients underestimate. RJTT operates under a strict business aviation slot regime with limited overnight parking, and late arrivals into the 2300 to 0600 curfew window are refused rather than negotiated. Narita (RJAA) is the standard alternate and, for longer ground stays, often the preferred primary. On the London side, Farnborough closes at 2200 local on weekdays and earlier at weekends, so a westbound return timed against Tokyo business hours frequently pushes departure into a Luton or Stansted slot instead. Customs and immigration at both ends are straightforward when filed in advance through the handler, with Universal, Jetex or Haneda Aviation Services managing the Japan arrival and a CAA-bonded FBO covering the UK side.

Positioning is where the economics are decided. Very few Ultra Long Range airframes sit idle in either London or Tokyo on a given week, and ferry legs of four to six hours are common on both sides of the trip. A one-way quote that looks aggressive is usually carrying a hidden repositioning assumption, and a round trip with two or three days on the ground in Japan is almost always the more honest number.
