Nice to Ibiza is one of the most over-promised short hops in the Western Mediterranean, and a heavy jet is rarely the honest answer to it. The leg runs a little over an hour in still air. At that distance an aircraft built for transatlantic range spends most of its time managing descent rather than using its cabin, and the per-hour economics rarely reward the choice unless the trip is part of a longer itinerary or the group and baggage genuinely call for the volume. We will say so directly when a midsize or super-midsize aircraft is the better-matched tool.

Where the heavy category earns its place is the summer constraint set rather than the flight time. Ibiza (LEIB) is slot-controlled through the peak season, with tight ground handling and limited parking that often forces a positioning leg back to Palma, Valencia or Barcelona between the drop and the pickup. Both ends are Schengen, so customs is generally a non-event, but the airport's night curfew and the seasonal noise restrictions mean a late departure from Nice (LFMN) can leave you arriving after the field has effectively closed for the evening. A cabin that lets eight or more passengers wait out a weather hold in comfort, or absorb a two-hour slot slip without anyone noticing, is worth more here than raw speed.

On the Nice end, expect to work through one of the established business aviation handlers rather than the main terminal, with the Riviera's August traffic pushing slot requests and crew duty timing to the front of the planning. The sensible brief is usually a heavy jet only when the schedule is unforgiving, the party is large, or the Ibiza leg connects onward to a longer sector that justifies the airframe. For a couple or a small group travelling light, we will quote the smaller aircraft and explain the difference in plain numbers. The aim is the right tail for the trip, not the largest one we can fill.
